A Brief History: PubCrawler of Austin and the Texas Capitol District
We’ve been pedaling our PubCrawlers through the Capitol/Warehouse District since the very beginning, eight years ago. We knew that the Capitol District route would provide our pedalers with the perfect journey through the heart of downtown as our pedal-powered tour starts in West Austin and travels as far as Congress Avenue. This bike bar tour route is perfect for any local or tourist but provides an especially unique pub crawl to first-time travelers to Austin, as it gives a glimpse into Texas’s Capitol city. When deciding whether or not this tour is for you, please consider that this tour goes the furthest into downtown Austin out of all of our route options, so be ready to pedal. While your legs may get tired, your eyes will be distracted by the rustic beauty and history behind the newly renovated antique warehouses. However, the real beauty of this tour occurs when turning left onto Congress Avenue, which makes the longer distance of the route worth it. Once your PubCrawler tour turns onto Congress Ave. the tree-lined streets leading up to The Texas Capitol Building will take your breath away.
What partner bar stops are featured on the Capitol District bike bar pub Crawl?
Our pedalers first stop is a quick pedal to the Tiniest Bar in Texas to get the pedal-powered party started. Then we crawl our way down to West 4th Street, the heart of the Capitol/Warehouse District, where many of Austin, Texas locals favorite bars line the street. You can choose from the historical Lavaca Street Bar, several rooftop bars, The Market and Hangar Lounge, and Austin’s gay bar district, home to dance clubs Rain, Sellers Underground, and Oilcan Harry’s. Once you are back on the bike bar, you and your party will pedal your way a few blocks down Congress Avenue, which gives you the best view of the Texas Capitol building. Our final stop is on West 6th street, where numerous newly built and operated bars serve craft beers and cocktails that you can sip on while playing giant Jenga or Cornhole.
